Officers from the Assisi Police Commissariat, upon arrival at the scene, found the woman in a state of severe agitation: she was wielding a large knife, brandishing it against the personnel present and against herself. Attempts to calm her proved unsuccessful, forcing police officers to resort to capsicum spray from their equipment, which allowed them to contain and disarm her.
During initial medical treatment provided by paramedics, the woman broke free and attacked one of the officers, continuing to threaten him with death. She was then transported to the accident and emergency department of Perugia Hospital for further assessment. There, relatives of the 54-year-old began insulting the staff and directing death threats towards them.
After order was restored in the accident and emergency department, the woman managed to break free again and leave the hospital, attempting to strike officers with slaps and punches. Police officers restrained her and ensured her safety, proceeding with formal arrest on charges of aggravated resistance to a public official.
On the orders of the duty public prosecutor at the Public Prosecution Office of Perugia, the woman was held in the holding cells of Perugia Police Headquarters pending trial by direct appearance. Following the hearing, the judge ordered a residence confinement measure in the municipality of Assisi, with a prohibition on leaving her residence between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
