Two teachers attacked in a park in Parma: Gilda demands urgent measures

Attack in Parma: teachers beaten in park near school
According to reports by ANSA Cronaca, two adult men — apparently both teachers — were attacked by a group of youths in the Ex Eridania Park in Parma, an area adjacent to several school institutes in the city. The incident is documented in a video circulated on social networks, which has prompted reactions from local political figures and the Gilda teachers' union.
The Gilda degli Insegnanti of Parma and Piacenza has identified the victims as teachers from one of the institutes located near the park. In its statement, the union indicates that the attackers would be enrolled at one of the schools in the area. Gilda then raised a broader issue: "The problem arises that one wants to forcibly consider as a student someone who is not one," the statement reads, referring to young people who, upon completing their compulsory schooling at 16 years of age, do not intend to continue their studies.
The union has asked the Public Prosecutor's office to conduct the necessary investigations "aimed at prosecuting those responsible for the violence", adding that those responsible could "possibly study even as prisoners".
The headmaster of the Itis Leonardo da Vinci, Giorgio Piva, has announced that the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara has "promptly taken an interest in what happened", involving the school leadership in an in-depth reflection to support the school community and expressing "great solidarity" with the teachers involved.
Piva clarified that the institute "has always pursued an educational action aimed at respect for roles, people and rules". Given the seriousness of the incident, he announced that the competent collegiate bodies will be tasked with evaluating "appropriate disciplinary measures, always guided by an educational logic", with the role of other responsible institutions remaining unchanged.
