The Court of Assizes in Pesaro sentenced Ezio Di Levrano, 54, to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife Ana Cristina Duarte, 38. The crime took place during the night of 6 to 7 September 2024 in Saltara di Colli al Metauro, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino.
The man struck the woman with eight stab wounds. The judges recognised the aggravating circumstances of cruelty, trivial motives and depravity, as well as maltreatment. Premeditation was not recognised. The verdict came after four hours of deliberation.
According to what was reconstructed in court, the act would have occurred after a lengthy period of maltreatment suffered by the victim. At the time of the crime, the couple's three children were also in the house.
Di Levrano's defence lawyer, Salvatore Asole, announced that he would appeal after reading the sentencing judgment.
