Former Head of Radiology in Piacenza to Face Trial for Abuse

Investigation closed into former head of department accused of sexual assault and stalking

The Piacenza Public Prosecutor's Office has concluded its investigation into Professor Emanuele Michieletti, according to ANSA Cronaca. The former head of Radiology had been arrested approximately one year ago, on 6 May, on charges of sexual assault and stalking against colleagues including female doctors and nurses from the department.

Michieletti had spent approximately six months under house arrest. The closure of the investigation typically precedes a request for committal to trial.

From the investigation documents, at least eight victims would appear to have emerged, who were harassed and abused during working hours inside the hospital.

According to reports by the Corriere della Sera, the Medical Board has meanwhile revoked the suspension from the profession, allowing the doctor to resume activity in a private clinic.
