Femicide of Lorena Isceri in Florence: the police officer who attempted to stop Vella
A police officer attempted to negotiate with Federico Vella before he killed Lorena Isceri. Cable ties, scissors and a sheet had been found in his SUV.

According to zazoom.it, a police officer attempted to stop Federico Vella during the phases preceding the femicide of Lorena Isceri in Florence, begging him to desist and not approach the victim. The negotiation attempt was recorded by a colleague's bodycam.
In the video, the police officer is heard repeating several times: "I am begging you, do not throw yourself", "Do not get close". Vella responds: "Shoot me, it would be the greatest act of love". The female officer insists: "I have called your mum, stay calm, I am asking you a favour, I asked you to come only to this other side, at least come here". And again: "It is not true that we have something against you, nobody has anything against you".
The police officer later stated: "I was thinking of only one thing: if I save him, then I also save her". The negotiation was not successful. Lorena Isceri died.
In the course of the investigation, investigators found in Vella's car — parked in front of his ex's home — a bag containing cable ties, probably the same ones used to bind her hands and feet and lock her in the SUV's boot, as well as a pair of scissors and a long sheet. The items found indicate premeditation of the crime.
According to sources close to the victim, Lorena was afraid of Vella but did not want to report him, fearing she would ruin him. Before taking his own life, Vella sent a message to his ex's mother with the words: "Your daughter is dead". On social media he had posted a message in which he wrote: "I will be yours even if I can never be so again".
An autopsy will need to determine whether Lorena Isceri died before or after impact with the ground, according to ANSA reporting. The woman had been thrown from an overpass onto the A1 motorway.
