Bodies on the A1 viaduct: femicide-suicide hypothesis in the Mugello
A man and a woman have been found dead beneath the Alteta viaduct of the A1 motorway, in the municipal territory of Borgo San Lorenzo, in the province of Florence. According to reports from Google News IT — Crime (it), investigators are working on the hypothesis of a femicide followed by suicide.
The victims are Federico Vella, 36 years old, and Lorena Iscera, 45 years old, both from Florence and employed, former life partners. Investigators believe that Vella may have thrown the woman from the viaduct before throwing himself into the void in turn. The exact circumstances remain to be ascertained.
The alarm and discovery
The alarm was raised in the early afternoon. The woman reportedly contacted the emergency services on 112 and, almost simultaneously, a friend of hers received a notification — probably a missed call or a WhatsApp message. On the basis of these details, the police launched a search and located the car of the two on the A1, in the Apennine stretch that crosses the Mugello. The vehicle was found near the Alteta viaduct. Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the motorway police found Vella's body having fallen from the viaduct and, a short distance away, that of his ex-partner.
Shortly before the incident, the man had posted the word "goodbye to all" in his social media stories.
Operations at the scene
Firefighters and personnel from the 4th Section Directorate of Florence of Autostrade per l'Italia responded to the viaduct. The car was placed under seizure. Investigators are examining the mobile phones of the two, their recent contacts and the movements recorded in the hours before the tragedy.
Around 15.30, Autostrade per l'Italia ordered the temporary closure of the A1 Panoramica in the stretch between the junction with the Direttissima and Roncobilaccio, to allow for rescue operations and investigations as necessary. Officers from the Mobile Squad of Florence and the duty public prosecutor also arrived at the scene. The Florence Public Prosecutor's Office formally began investigations to reconstruct the incident.
The Instagram post
Among the elements now being examined by investigators is a post published by Vella on his Instagram profile on 12 August, several weeks before the tragedy. The man had shared photographs of their relationship, accompanying them with words addressed to his ex: "Some patterns are so perfect — he wrote — that, even if you separate them, the shape of the other remains with you forever. To you, the woman I loved with all of myself and lost because of my stupidity. I will be yours even though I can no longer be."
That text, together with the most recent exchanges of messages on the seized mobile phones, may contribute to reconstructing the context of the relationship between the two and the events in the hours before the discovery.
