Young man arrested on via Turri with hashish doses and knife in backpack

Google News IT — Crime (it) reports that on Friday morning, on via Turri near the historic Reggio Emilia station, carabinieri stopped a young man aged 25, originally from Senegal and residing in the city.

At the time of the check, the man had with him six doses of hashish for a total weight of approximately six grammes. A butterfly knife with a ten-centimetre blade, possessed without justification, was also found in his backpack. The drugs were hidden inside a packet of cigarettes.

On seeing the officers, the young man attempted to walk away, but was stopped and subjected to verification. He was unable to provide any valid explanation for possession of the weapon.

The 25-year-old was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing and illegal possession of a bladed weapon.

The check forms part of security operations in the station area, considered one of the city's "hot zones", where law enforcement carries out frequent inspections, sometimes with extraordinary operations.
