Florence: 21-year-old arrested for stabbing two people on the street
A twenty-one-year-old boy has been remanded in custody in Florence by order of the preliminary investigation judge. He is accused of having attempted to murder one person and of having wounded another, using a bladed weapon.
According to a reconstruction by the Mobile Squad, reported on the Florence Police Headquarters website, on the evening of 15 April the young man approached a passer-by in via Caccini. After asking for a cigarette, he drew a blade and struck several blows to the chest and abdomen. The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition; doctors estimated recovery in approximately three weeks.
Investigators from the homicide section subsequently linked another incident that occurred that same evening to the same attacker. A second individual was struck by cuts to the shoulder, forearm and palm.
The detainee was already held in the Florence remand prison for two attempted robberies, both committed in April and in each case with the use of a knife.
The order was issued during the preliminary investigation: it may be appealed and the alleged perpetrator remains innocent until final judgement.
