According to Corriere della Sera, the operation shed light on an unlawful system of car commercialisation. The vehicles, previously damaged in accidents, were being recycled and placed on the used car market as reliable automobiles.
The investigation made it possible to identify a criminal network active in the sector. Among the elements that emerged, the link with the 'Ndrangheta, a Calabrian mafia organisation, stands out. The presence of the clan in the investigation confirms organised crime's interest in car trafficking.
The competent authorities are proceeding with further investigations to reconstruct the entire recycling chain and identify all those responsible.
