Three men stopped while stealing copper pipes from the abandoned structure
The Avellino State Police have arrested a 47-year-old, a 39-year-old and a 26-year-old, all residents of the Vallo di Lauro, on suspicion of aggravated theft. This is reported by questure.poliziadistato.it in a statement released in recent hours.
Officers from the Lauro Police Station (AV), during a judicial police operation aimed at combating predatory crimes, caught the three inside the accommodation facility "La Certosa di San Giacomo", currently closed, situated in the municipality of Lauro. The individuals were removing several copper pipes using burglary tools. All three had previous police records. The material recovered was placed under seizure.
Subsequent investigations, coordinated by the Avellino Public Prosecutor's Office, led to a search of the home of a woman of Romanian nationality, also a resident of the Vallo di Lauro. In the home, ceramic vases and silver cutlery of considerable value were found, traceable to the same facility. The woman, who had previous charges against her, was charged with the judicial authorities for handling stolen goods.
