Anti-drugs operation in Gaeta: two young Albanian nationals stopped with cocaine and cash
The State Police arrested two Albanian nationals, born respectively in 2004 and 2005, in Gaeta, at the conclusion of an anti-drugs operation conducted by the local Police Station. This is reported on questure.poliziadistato.it.
The operation was launched after officers observed one of the two young men meeting with a man near Via Rimini, in the seaside resort of Serapo (LT). During surveillance at a distance, police witnessed an exchange: the young man handed over a package in exchange for some banknotes.
The buyer, stopped shortly afterwards, was found in possession of a dose of cocaine. Investigators then extended their investigations to the accommodation where both suspects were staying.
The search made it possible to find additional narcotic substance, divided between already packaged doses and larger packages. The total seizure amounts to approximately 63 grammes of cocaine, as well as a precision electronic scale and material for packaging the doses.
During the operation, €2,830 in cash was also seized, in banknotes of various denominations, which investigators believed to be possible proceeds from dealing activity.
At the disposal of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassino, the two were transferred to Cassino prison pending the validation hearing. The Judge for preliminary investigations subsequently validated the arrests, ordering for both the precautionary measure of a residence requirement in their municipality of residence.
The proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase. The suspects are to be considered innocent until final conviction and may fully exercise their right to defence.
