A court in Lecco has issued a sentence against a 35-year-old of Polish origin for a fatal accident that occurred in September 2025. The man was charged with causing the death of two 21-year-old girls whilst they were walking to a local village celebration.

The incident occurred on the evening of 20 September at Brivio, in the province of Lecco. The two victims, residents of Paderno d'Adda, were struck by a van. The driver tested positive for drug use.

Judge Gianluca Piantadosi, who presided over the abbreviated trial, imposed a sentence of three years and six months. This decision exceeds the request made by the public prosecutor, who had sought two years and eight months.

In addition to the custodial sentence, the magistrate ordered the withdrawal of the driving licence for a three-year period. The defendant, currently subject to restriction of personal liberty with electronic monitoring device, resides in a facility in the Milan area.
