An Italian businessman, Giuseppe Barbóni, a member of the far-right party "National Future", has physically attacked an Iraqi migrant in San Benedetto del Tronto, posting a video of the assault on social networks.

An Italian businessman affiliated with the far-right party "National Future" has violently attacked a migrant in the city of San Benedetto del Tronto, in the Marche region. The man, identified as Giuseppe Barbóni, filmed the entire incident and distributed the video online.
In the footage, Barbóni approaches an Iraqi migrant who, according to his account, was obstructing vehicle traffic. Shortly after, the businessman — who also practises martial arts — throws the man to the ground, immobilises him and begins striking him repeatedly in the face. At the end of the assault, he pushes the victim onto the edge of the pavement.
Following the incident, Barbóni wrote on social media: "This Iraqi has been disturbing the city for months and twenty-four hours ago he created chaos." His statements provoked strong reactions across the country.
The vast majority of the Italian press condemned the incident with critical commentary. The centre-right mayor of San Benedetto del Tronto, Nicola Moscioni, also distanced himself from the events: "We distance ourselves from events of this kind, private justice is not the correct choice," he stated.
The "National Future" party, led by retired general Roberto Vannacci, has positioned itself in favour of the forced repatriation of irregular migrants, is in open conflict with the LGBTQ+ community and considers femicide "a murder like all the others". According to the latest polls, the party is gathering 6.2 per cent of voting intentions.
