La Sonrisa remains closed: Polese family appeal ruled inadmissible in Naples
The Court of Review in Naples has declared inadmissible the appeal by Maria Rosaria Polese against the seizure of the Grand Hotel La Sonrisa. The Sant'Antonio Abate facility remains closed.
New judicial defeat for former owners of the "Castle of Ceremonies"
The Court of Review in Naples has declared inadmissible the appeal submitted by Maria Rosaria Polese against the preventive seizure decree that affects the commercial premises of the Grand Hotel La Sonrisa in Sant'Antonio Abate. This is reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano - Cronaca, citing the Public Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata coordinated by prosecutor Nunzio Fragliasso.
The preventive seizure had been issued on 21 July by the investigating judge of the Court of Torre Annunziata, at the request of the Prosecutor's Office of Torre Annunziata, for the offence of unlawful occupation of land or buildings. Three days later, on 24 July, carabinieri and local police officers arrived at the site to begin the eviction operations.
Since then the large white gate of the facility has remained closed and the Sonrisa sign has been obscured. The complex, made famous throughout Italy by the Real Time television programme "Il Castello delle Cerimonie", has now been confiscated and has become the property of the Municipality.
The decision of the Court of Review represents a further judicial defeat for the former owners of the facility and adds another chapter to the long legal saga that has marked its fate.
