Judo instructor arrested at Pigneto accused of abuse

Everything started with a disclosure by a girl born in 2016, who told her mother that she had been molested by a 71-year-old man employed at the summer centre where she was enrolled. According to rainews.it.

The man, previously reported for an earlier incident of paedophilia, was arrested in the Pigneto neighbourhood of Rome on charges of paedophilia. According to the prosecution, he would have exploited his role as an administrative and registration assistant — presenting himself as a sort of "head" of the facility — to approach the girl and commit the abuse. He is also known in the area in martial arts circles as a judo instructor.

The facts contested in the four-page court order issued by the judge at the Rome Court are reported to have occurred between 20 and 30 July. The summer centre was set up inside a school building in the neighbourhood.

The report was made on 30 July, when the mother came to pick up her daughter. The girl appeared distressed and, once home, preferred to recount what had happened through several WhatsApp messages. In one of these she described the incident with these words: "He hugs me and puts his hand in my underwear and then gives me three kisses, one on the forehead, one on the cheek and the third on the mouth".
