In the small Sardinian locality of Magomadas, in the territory of Planargia, carabinieri arrested two people accused of trafficking in psychoactive substances. A woman aged 46 and a man aged 41, both residents of the town, have been arrested.
The operation was carried out by military personnel from the companies of Bosa and Suni. The investigation began with simple routine checks in the village. The carabinieri had noticed an unusual flow of visitors at an apartment in the historic centre, with people entering and leaving at unusual hours. This aroused the suspicion of the military, who obtained a warrant to search the property.
The Arma's visit confirmed investigators' fears. The dwelling was functioning as a logistics base for the distribution of narcotics. Hidden in various points of the apartment were found approximately 500 grammes of cocaine. Part of the substance had already been divided into individual doses, ready to be handed over to buyers. These doses had been concealed inside a tin sweet box.
In addition to the cocaine, military personnel seized quantities of hashish and marijuana, substances used as diluents to increase profits, three precision scales and the material necessary for packaging. An address book was also recovered with notes that, according to investigators, constituted a record of illegal commercial transactions.
Among the items seized are also approximately 2,500 euros in banknotes, which investigators consider the proceeds of the illegal activity. The two arrested were taken to the barracks and subsequently made available to the judicial authorities.
The operation confirms a worrying increase in drug trafficking in the Planargia area, a phenomenon that law enforcement is combating with greater determination.
