Forty precautionary measures in Andria: drug dealing also from those under house arrest
The mobile squad of Andria police headquarters executed 40 precautionary measures on Wednesday morning against as many suspects, accused of various offences including dealing in narcotic substances, breach of house arrest, extortion and failure to render assistance. This is reported by lagazzettadelmezzogiorno.it.
The judge at Trani Court has ordered custody for 25 of the people involved, whilst the remaining 15 have been placed under house arrest. Women are among those under investigation.
The investigation, coordinated by Trani's Public Prosecutor, has established the existence of an organised group engaged in drug dealing in the city of Andria. The illegal activity was being managed in part also by individuals who were already under house arrest, thereby violating the restrictive measures imposed on them.
Among the offences charged are also extortions: according to investigators, the suspects made requests for money accompanied by threats against those who had accumulated debts. The charge of failure to render assistance concerns a road accident, the perpetrators of which fled without providing assistance to the victims.
