The Mobile Squads and the Crime Prevention Unit carried out an operation across Italian territory. The result: 1,335 arrests, almost 300,000 people identified and 430 kg of substances seized. In the Bari area 28 arrests and weapons confiscated.

A large-scale investigative operation conducted by the State Police has resulted in the arrest of 1,335 individuals and the seizure of over 430 kilograms of narcotics. The initiative, concluded in recent hours, involved investigators from the Mobile Squads under the direction of the Central Operations Service, with the support of the Crime Prevention Unit and territorial police headquarters.
The operations focused on areas at greatest risk of crime, particularly urban neighbourhoods and the outskirts of nightlife venues. During the operations, almost 300,000 people were checked, including over 15,000 minors. In addition to arrests, 2,358 people were reported to be proceeded against in freedom, including 142 juveniles under 18 years of age.
The confiscated material includes 48 kilograms of cocaine, 379 of cannabinoids and 7 of heroin. Officers also seized 111 firearms, including a Colt AR-15 assault rifle, various military-grade weapons and a bulletproof vest. Additionally, monitoring of bladed weapons made it possible to recover 250 offensive objects, including machetes, sabres, knuckledusters and axes.
In Bari, on the instructions of Chief of Police Annino Gargano, checks resulted in the capture of 28 people for drug trafficking, illegal carrying of weapons and property crimes. In the homes searched, approximately 58 kilograms of hashish, 170 grammes of cocaine, 21 grammes of heroin and 47 grammes of marijuana were found, as well as three pistols, a rifle and three knives. The intensified checks in the Apulian city follow a wave of violence, ambushes and arson that has bloodied the provincial capital in recent weeks.
