Major prison raid in Terni: mobile phones, smartwatches and drugs found
On the night of 14 July, Prison Police officers carried out a significant operation inside the house of detention in Terni. The sector targeted was that housing inmates classified as High Security. The direction of the regional Provveditorate for Umbria and the Marches orchestrated the action, under the control of the central department of the same body. The objective fell within the broader national plan to raise security standards in detention facilities.
210 uniformed personnel were deployed: the local contingent, reinforcements from the Umbria-Marche District, specialists from various components of the Corps and a canine unit that arrived specifically from Rome.
The searches resulted in the seizure and confiscation of fifty mobile phones, five smartwatches and a quantity of hashish exceeding one hundred grammes. Further prohibited items were also found in the cells. Following the inspections, thirty-five inmates were reported to the judicial authorities for unlawful possession of communication devices.
The sector in question deserves particular attention as it houses individuals linked to significant organised crime phenomena.
