A forty-year-old man of North African origin has been arrested in Melegnano for possession of narcotic substances with intent to supply. The operation by carabinieri from the local station took place on Friday evening in a flat located in the central Piazza IV Novembre.
The officers had observed suspicious activity in the area, with a steady flow of people that suggested illicit activities. After carrying out a house search, they found doses of cocaine and hashish inside the flat, along with a precision scale used for weighing the goods.
The forty-year-old was taken into custody and, on Saturday morning, brought before the judge for a summary trial at the court in Lodi. The magistrate validated the arrest and ordered the provisional release of the suspect, subject to the obligation to present himself periodically to law enforcement pending the next hearing.
The mayor of Melegnano, Vito Bellomo, expressed appreciation for the operation conducted by the carabinieri, emphasising how several anti-drug operations have been carried out in various areas of the municipality in recent times.
