A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Mesagne for possession of cocaine for the purpose of dealing. The drug, approximately 12 grammes, was hidden in a cavity within the antenna cable compartment.

In the Apulian town of Mesagne, officers from the police station stopped a twenty-two-year-old for trafficking in narcotics. The operation took place on 16 June, when the investigative squad stopped the man in the Porta Grande area.
The detainee, who had previously been reported to the authorities, reacted in a visibly agitated manner to the search. The search resulted in the discovery of four doses of white powder, subsequently identified as cocaine. Continuing with a search of his home, investigators discovered an ingenious hiding place: twenty further packages had been placed in a space created behind the television antenna cables. The total weight of the seized goods was approximately 12 grammes.
Given the drug dealer's young age, investigators believe that his target customers consisted of adolescents and young adults.
After the formalities of the process, the case was referred to the examination of the Brindisi prosecutor's office. Investigating magistrate Livia Orlando requested imprisonment for the man, but judge Vilma Gilli, meeting on 19 June, upheld the arrest and imposed the less restrictive measure of house arrest, as requested by his legal representatives Antonio Gianni Junior Rosato and Vincenzo Valente.
On the same day, local crime prevention officers carried out another measure: a local young woman was taken to serve a sentence of over two years and nine months in house detention. The conviction concerns her role in two armed robberies committed in September 2023: the first against a commercial business in Mesagne, the second against a tobacconist's in Brindisi.
