Milan, 42-year-old arrested: defrauded elderly with "fake police officer" scam
A 42-year-old man has been arrested in Milan by the Mobile Squad for robbing an elderly couple by posing as a police officer. The gold taken has been returned to its legitimate owners.

Milan's Mobile Squad has arrested a 42-year-old man accused of defrauding an elderly couple using the so-called "fake police officer" method, as reported by Google News IT — Crime (it).
Officers, engaged in operations to counter crimes against property and fraud targeting elderly persons, noticed the man moving about the city centre with suspicious behaviour, his eyes fixed on his mobile phone as if waiting for a call.
After receiving a video call, the 42-year-old rang an intercom and entered a building. He emerged approximately ten minutes later. Stopped immediately for a check, he was found in possession of a watch, rings and gold brooches. Hidden inside his underwear was also a gold necklace.
Subsequent checks in the building allowed officers to identify the elderly couple who were victims of the fraud. The husband, 84 years old, had answered a telephone call from a self-styled police officer, who told him that his identity card had been used by two citizens from Eastern Europe to rent a car at Linate — a vehicle with which they would then have robbed a jewellery shop on via Padova. The bogus officer had added that a magistrate, speaking on the telephone with the couple's daughter, needed to know the quantity of gold in the house: once weighed, it would be collected directly by an authorised agent.
The Mobile Squad's prompt intervention made it possible to stop the fraudster on the spot and return the jewels to their legitimate owners.
