An operation across Lombardy provinces has led to the arrest of six young people suspected of taking part in a fatal assault against an Italian-Ecuadorian boy that occurred in May.

A law enforcement operation has led to the detention of six people believed to be involved in the killing of an Italian-Ecuadorian boy that took place on 26 May at Milan's Certosa station. The victim, Gianluca Ibarra Silvera, died following an armed assault.
The investigation, conducted by the Milan Prosecutor's Office, made it possible to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident. According to what emerged, a group surrounded the young man together with his brother and a companion, triggering a violent assault with blunt objects and blades. The situation then evolved into a chase along the railway tracks, where the boy fell and was reportedly reached and struck repeatedly by some of the attackers.
The investigations made use of surveillance footage and witness statements collected in the days following the incident. The six detainees, all between 18 and 22 years old, comprise five Peruvian citizens and a nineteen-year-old Dominican. Investigators believe they are members of the Latin Kings criminal organisation and that they played different roles in the crime.
These measures add to two previous arrests carried out respectively on 5 and 9 June, when the alleged perpetrators of the stabbing were identified. The incident caused considerable uproar in the country due to the ferocity of the assault and its links to a noted youth organisation active in multiple centres across the continent.
