Murder with screwdriver blows at Zen district in Palermo: three arrested, two are minors
A 45-year-old man was killed during a brawl in the Zen district of Palermo. Carabinieri arrested three people, including two juvenile suspects.
Three men arrested for the murder of Vito Genovese at Zen
According to reports from ansa.it, carabinieri from the San Lorenzo and San Filippo Neri companies arrested three people in connection with the murder of Vito Genovese, 45, who was killed by screwdriver blows during a brawl in the Zen district of Palermo, on Via Costante Girardengo.
The arrested individuals are Paolo Puleo, 34 years old, who was under house arrest, and two teenagers aged 17 and 16. All three are accused of murder.
According to the military reconstruction, Genovese noticed the three were tampering with a garage of his property. Upon going down to the street, a violent argument broke out: the man was attacked and struck with a helmet and a screwdriver to the face.
The alarm was raised by Genovese's wife, a direct witness to the assault. In attempting to help her husband, Domenico D'Anna, 47 years old, was also wounded, struck on a shoulder: he later went to the accident and emergency department of Cervello hospital on his own.
The autopsy will be carried out at the institute of forensic medicine at the Polyclinic of Palermo. The two minors were transferred to Malaspina prison, whilst Puleo is held at Pagliarelli.
