Son kills mother during argument and hides body: 48-year-old detained in Rome

Vittoria Maria Rosa De Donato, 78 years old, was killed by her son Francesco Oliveto, 48 years old, at the end of a violent argument that occurred between 4 and 5 June. According to romatoday.it, the elderly woman's body was found in the San Vittorino area of Rome, concealed inside a concrete structure on via Macchiagodena.

The matter came to light after the victim's family members filed a missing person report. The Carabinieri of the Tivoli company and the investigative unit of Frascati launched investigations, tracing the residence where mother and son lived together. When confronted by investigators, Oliveto confessed to the crime: "I killed my mother," he stated to the officers during interrogation, indicating the location where he had hidden the body.

According to the reconstruction carried out by investigators, Oliveto had pushed his mother, causing her to hit her head against a table, leaving her dying on the floor, then struck her with a rolling pin. During the night he transported the body to the cellar, concealing it inside the concrete structure.

The 48-year-old was brought to the barracks on 5 June and is currently in custody. The Rome Public Prosecutor's Office opened a file for murder. The investigations, aimed at reconstructing the exact dynamics of the argument and the time of death, are coordinated by deputy prosecutor Maurizio Arcuri.
