Murder at Zen in Palermo: three suspects arrested, including two sixteen-year-olds
Three residents of Palermo, two of whom are minors, have been arrested for the killing of Vito Genovese, 45, which occurred on the night of Ferragosto at Zen.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Vito Genovese, 45, killed on the night of Ferragosto on via Costante Girardengo, in the Zen district of Palermo. This is reported by palermotoday.it.
Carabinieri from the Operational Unit of the San Lorenzo Company, with support from the San Filippo Neri Station, identified the three suspects on the evening of yesterday: two sixteen-year-olds and a 33-year-old man, Paolo Puleo, who was already under house arrest at the time of his arrest. All three have criminal records and are considered jointly responsible for both the murder of Genovese and the attempted murder of a 47-year-old. The latter presented himself voluntarily to the emergency room of Cervello hospital at around 4 in the morning with a wound to the left shoulder.
The investigation was conducted under the direction of the Palermo Public Prosecutor's Office and the Prosecutor's Office for Minors. Investigators gathered evidence through crime scene inspections, witness statements and technical examinations.
According to the carabinieri's reconstruction, Genovese would have noticed some young people near the family garage and invited them to leave, fearing a robbery. In response, he was attacked with a screwdriver and a helmet, sustaining injuries that caused his death. The 47-year-old, who intervened in his defence, was also struck with a screwdriver.
In addition to the arrest on suspicion of crime, charges were filed for attempted murder in connection with the assault on the 47-year-old. Puleo was also charged with escaping house arrest. The 33-year-old was transferred to Pagliarelli prison, whilst the two minors were taken to Malaspina juvenile detention facility.
