The Naples court held a further session of the proceedings concerning the death of a minor that occurred in spring 2025 in the Afragola area. The young girl, who was just 14 years old, died inside a disused building that had previously been used as a sports facility.
The alleged perpetrator, a local twenty-year-old, spoke via remote connection. Forced into this arrangement following altercations with the victim's family at a previous hearing, the young man expressed remorse for the facts, whilst acknowledging that he was unable to grant himself any inner forgiveness. He denied ever threatening the girl or others, offering his own interpretation of an electronic message with disturbing content.
The professional appointed by the prosecution described in detail the manner in which the crime was committed. The victim would have been struck on four separate occasions. Death was not instantaneous but occurred approximately sixty minutes after the violence began. The final blow would have inflicted the most severe injuries. Traces were found on the body indicating an attempt to resist the attacker.
According to the reconstruction presented during the trial, the first attack took place in a corridor of the building, causing the minor to fall. This was immediately followed by two further close-range blows. During this phase, the man also covered the girl's mouth to prevent her from calling for help. Subsequently, he transported her to a further inner room, where he inflicted the fourth blow. The analysis indicates that at the moment she was moved, the victim was still alive but unable to move.
Investigators tasked with technical investigation highlighted methodical behaviour on the part of the attacker. After committing the crime, he concealed the corpse under piles of waste material and worked to clean up the blood traces present in the area. The inspection at the scene was conducted using sophisticated photographic equipment and lighting systems capable of simulating natural light.
During the session, images of particularly strong nature of the injuries sustained by the young girl were shown. The mother, present in the courtroom, was unable to control her emotional state, bursting into desperate tears. The court president therefore decided to temporarily suspend proceedings to allow the woman to receive assistance and leave the courtroom.
Two concrete stones found at the location were also examined, on which biological analysis revealed genetic traces traceable to the defendant. According to the prosecution's theory, these items constituted the instruments used to perpetrate the murder. A technician specialised in the analysis of electronic apparatus seized by law enforcement was also heard.
The woman, interviewed by journalists as she left the courthouse, stated that she could not forgive whoever took her daughter's life, expressing scepticism about the sincerity of the words spoken by the defendant.
The trial will resume in the first week of September, when the victim's mother's testimony will be heard.
