An inter-agency operation in Cirò Marina and Cirò Superiore has led to the charging of the owner of a hospitality facility and administrative sanctions exceeding €5,000.

An inter-agency operation conducted as part of the National and Transnational Plan "Focus 'Ndrangheta" has involved the municipalities of Cirò Superiore and Cirò Marina, as reported by questure.poliziadistato.it. The initiative was ordered by ordinance of the Questore of the Province of Crotone, Renato Panvino, on the decision of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security chaired by Prefect Franca Ferraro.
The activity, coordinated by an officer of the State Police, saw the joint participation of the State Police, Carabinieri, Financial Guard and Port Authority. The checks involved commercial establishments, persons and vehicles along the main road networks.
Hospitality facility and beach establishment under scrutiny
The central focus of the operation involved a hospitality facility with an attached beach establishment, a retail business and a restaurant and pizzeria operation. The Port Authority of Crotone contested two administrative violations: the first for the absence of a lifeguard at the designated post, the second for the management of the beach establishment on public land lacking the specific authorisation. Both violations carry a minimum sanction of €1,032 each.
The owner of the facility was also charged to the Judicial Authority for adopting methods of identification of guests not compliant with current regulations and for failing to register some guests.
Approximately 10 kg of fish products seized
The checks carried out on the food and beverage service activity within the facility established the lack of traceability of approximately 10 kg of fish products. The owner was fined with a minimum penalty of €2,000 and the goods were placed under administrative seizure.
The ASP of Crotone intervened on site, issuing specific requirements for hygiene-sanitary and structural compliance of the activity. The owner was issued a further sanction of €1,000 for failing to indicate in the Certified Notice of Commencement of Health-related Activity the premises designated as the pool bar.
Vehicle dismantling and documentation deficiencies
The Road Police carried out an inspection at a vehicle dismantling business. Examination of the documentation presented by the owner revealed a deficiency: the technical reports and documentation attached to the relevant SCIA were not available. The owner was invited to supplement the documentation at the Police offices.
376 persons identified, driving licence suspended
Throughout the operation, law enforcement conducted checks on persons and vehicles, verifying compliance with the Road Traffic Code. The Financial Guard issued two Road Traffic Code sanctions, with the concurrent suspension of a driving licence.
Officers from the State Police Patrol Units identified 376 persons and checked 205 vehicles, also carrying out several home checks on subjects subject to measures restricting personal freedom.
Overall results
Overall, the operation resulted in one charge to the Judicial Authority and administrative sanctions totalling over €5,000. Control activities will continue with the aim of verifying compliance with applicable regulations and the regularity of authorisations in the administrative, health, public land and public safety spheres across the various commercial activities in the territory.
