Google News IT — Crime (it) reports that yesterday morning law enforcement agencies carried out a multi-agency operation under the National and Transnational Plan "Focus 'Ndrangheta" in the city of Cutro (KR). The operation was ordered by the Police Chief of Crotone Province, Renato Panvino, following decisions made by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by the Prefect of Crotone, Franca Ferraro.
The operation, coordinated by a State Police official, involved personnel from the State Police, the Carabinieri, the Financial Police, the Port Authority and the Territorial Labour Inspectorate. The inspections covered commercial establishments, individuals and vehicles along the main roads in the city.
Beach facility suspended: employee without proper employment contract
Personnel from the Administrative Police Division carried out an inspection at a beach facility with an attached food and beverage service activity. The joint inspection with the Port Authority and the Territorial Labour Inspectorate revealed the presence of an employee without a proper employment contract.
The Labour Inspectorate therefore imposed an administrative fine of 2,500 euros on the owner, issued an order suspending the activity and reserved the right to conduct further investigations. The Port Authority also fined the owner for the absence of buoys at sea, with a fine of 1,032 euros.
Agricultural companies inspected, hashish and knife seized
The judicial police section of the Highway Police, together with personnel from the ASP and the Carabinieri, carried out two inspections respectively at an agricultural company and an agricultural cooperative company. In both cases the owners received prescriptions.
Along the main roads, the Crime Prevention Unit applied two Road Code fines, including a vehicle circulation suspension. The Financial Police contested a fine under article 180, paragraphs 1 and 7 of the Road Code and reported to the Prefect an individual found in possession of 6.8 grammes of hashish, subject to administrative seizure. The driving licence was also withdrawn from this individual under article 75, paragraph 3 of Presidential Decree 309/1990.
In the course of two searches carried out under article 103, paragraph 3 of Presidential Decree 309/1990, one yielded a result. A further search under article 4 of Law 110/1975 led to the discovery of a 20-centimetre folding knife, immediately seized. The possessor was referred to the competent judicial authority. The Carabinieri issued two Road Code violations and suspended one driving licence.
Overall results of the operation
At the end of the operation, the multi-agency operation report shows the following results:
- 172 people identified, of whom 8 foreigners and 50 with criminal records;
- 107 vehicles inspected;
- 4 commercial establishments inspected;
- 2 administrative fines totalling approximately 3,532 euros;
- 5 Road Code fines, with 2 driving licence suspensions and 1 vehicle circulation suspension.
The operation is part of the broader territorial control plan provided for by the "Focus 'Ndrangheta" programme and confirms, according to the authorities, the effectiveness of coordination between the various police forces in preventing and suppressing offences in the commercial and agricultural sectors.
