The Guardia di Finanza has struck an Italian-Albanian criminal organisation engaged in drug trafficking between Lombardy and the upper Adriatic. As reported by Google News IT — Crime (it), the investigation termed "King George" resulted in 8 arrests and 33 search warrants.
The operation was coordinated by the Anti-mafia District Directorate of Milan and conducted by the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Trieste. The group supplied cocaine, hashish and marijuana to drug dealing markets in Lombardy and, during the summer months, to tourist locations in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Grado, Bibione, Jesolo and Caorle.
The investigation began following a check in Latisana, where 2 kilograms of marijuana had been seized. In total, over 90 kilograms of narcotics, illegal firearms, Rolex watches and assets worth 1.1 million euros were recovered.
