Operation "King George": Almost 100 kg of drugs seized, 16 arrests on Adriatic coast

The Trieste Financial Police, in collaboration with the Anti-Mafia District Direction in Milan and the Central Investigative Service for Organised Crime of the Finance Police, dismantled a criminal organisation of Italian-Albanian origin that supplied narcotic substances to tourist locations on the northern Adriatic coast. According to ANSA News.
The operation, code-named "King George", resulted in 35 investigations, 16 arrests and the overall seizure of 98.7 kilogrammes of substances, as well as assets and financial resources worth 1.1 million euros.
The group distributed cocaine, marijuana and hashish in Lombardy, Liguria and Tuscany. During the summer season, trafficking activities extended to the main destinations in the north-east: Lignano, Bibione, Jesolo, Caorle, Grado and Sistiana, where the gang operated outside nightclubs, pubs, seaside establishments and accommodation facilities.
In the course of the investigation, 77.7 kilogrammes of marijuana, 21 kilogrammes of cocaine, three firearms with erased serial numbers, 10 bladed weapons and an Alfa Stelvio modified for drug transport were seized. Among the assets confiscated were also luxury watches and cash.
The Finance Police reconstructed the illicit profits of the organisation, estimated at approximately 1.1 million euros, and subjected them to preventive seizure.
