A 25-year-old Egyptian national has been arrested for the attempted murder of a man stabbed in September. Two accomplices have been detained and reported.
Stabbing in Padua: fugitive arrested
A 25-year-old Egyptian national has been arrested by the Padua Mobile Squad on suspicion of attempted murder. According to poliziadistato.it, the man had fled after stabbing an unsuspecting victim last September in a street near Padua Station.
The victim was lured into a trap and struck with kicks and punches. Once on the ground, he was stabbed in the abdomen and side. Investigators established that the attack was not isolated, but was part of a series of tensions and confrontations that had already emerged in the preceding days.
Immediately after the stabbing, the 25-year-old attempted to flee on an electric scooter with the help of a fellow countryman. The latter was detained a few hours later, reported and transferred to the Milan Centre for immigration procedures for removal from national territory.
A third assailant moved away towards the Arena Gardens wearing a dark hoodie and sunglasses. The investigation revealed previous threats and episodes of violence that guided the tracking of the fugitive, ultimately leading to his identification and arrest in execution of a custodial remand order in prison.
