Operation against child sexual abuse material: arrests and searches across Italy

Google News IT — Crime (it) reports that officers from the Cyber Security Operations Centre in Catania and the National Centre for Combating Child Sexual Abuse Material Online (Cncpo) in Rome have arrested 7 people and conducted searches and seizures in 17 Italian cities for offences related to the sexual exploitation of minors online.

At the conclusion of this initial investigative phase, in which over 100 Postal Police officers participated, a further 23 people are under investigation — for a total of 30 people under investigation — aged between 19 and 59 years old.

The investigation, conducted also with undercover officers, enabled specialists from the Postal Police in Catania to identify several groups that were exchanging videos of child sexual abuse material, including material depicting children who had been abused in infancy.

The searches were carried out in Bari, Bolzano, Brescia, Catania, Caserta, Catanzaro, Enna, Frosinone, Lodi, Milan, Nuoro, Pescara, Potenza, Rimini, Turin, Venice and Verona.

Analysis of the seized material is ongoing, with the aim of gathering evidence against further individuals not yet identified and of establishing the identities of the minor victims.
