International Day of Missing Children: Police Renews Its Commitment
The protection of missing minors is an "absolute priority" for the Police of the State. This is emphasised in an official statement released on 25 May, on the occasion of the International Day of Missing Children, reported by ANSA Cronaca.
The institution "renews its commitment to preventing and combating the phenomenon", through investigations, awareness-raising campaigns and initiatives aimed at families, young people and schools. Searches are conducted in coordination with the judicial authority, territorial authorities and child protection organisations.
Two Active Campaigns in 2026
For 2026, the Central Anti-Crime Department has adhered to the "Home Should Be Safe" campaign, promoted by the Amber Alert Eu Foundation. The initiative is aimed at adults — parents, teachers, trainers, neighbours and healthcare workers — to help them recognise warning signs of domestic violence in the behaviour of minors.
The Police of the State also participates in the Global Missing Children's Network, managed by the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. Through collaboration with the Central Anti-Crime Service, the body manages the website it.globalmissingkids.org, dedicated to children missing in Italy.
Both campaigns provide for the publication of multimedia materials on the Police's institutional channels, with the aim of raising public awareness of the importance of promptly reporting every disappearance.
Every Report Must Be Treated with Maximum Urgency
The information initiatives represent, according to the statement, "a moment of reflection on a phenomenon that affects thousands of families around the world and which requires rapid, coordinated and effective responses". The Police reiterates that "every report of a disappearance must be dealt with maximum urgency, without underestimating any element".
