In the garage of his home in Sulmona, the Carabinieri found seven hundred grams of cocaine divided into doses. Arrested was a 32-year-old local police officer, Ettore D'Alessandro. The drugs were ready to be sold.
The order of preventive custody was issued by investigating magistrate Edoardo Mariotti. The young official was transferred to the city's maximum security prison, where he remains awaiting confirmation of the arrest. His defence is handled by lawyer Alberto Paolini's law firm.
It is not yet clear whether the substance was being held on behalf of other individuals. As reported by ilGerme, in central Abruzzo this marks the twentieth arrest for drug trafficking since the beginning of the year. Recently, in the same area, a 57-year-old man from Pratola Peligna was caught with three and a half hundred grams of cocaine and cutting equipment; another 55-year-old resident from the same town was found with six and a half kilograms of hashish and one hundred grams of cocaine.
