State Police have carried out four arrests in recent hours in the eastern suburbs of the capital, dismantling as many drug-dealing operations active between the Alessandrino district, via dell'Archeologia and Ponte di Nona. This has been reported by questure.poliziadistato.it, specifying that the operations were conducted by investigators from the VI Section of the Mobile Squad — the so-called Falchi (Hawks) — with targeted and close-range interventions.
"On order" system in Alessandrino
A 55-year-old Roman woman had converted her apartment on via dei Girasoli into an operational base for drug dealing. The distribution of cocaine took place on a reservation basis: the customer would call, agree on the sale and receive the merchandise directly beneath the building's main entrance.
Officers, positioned near the building, caught her in the act whilst delivering the substance to a buyer. A search of the apartment led to the seizure of over 60 grammes of cocaine, divided into pre-packaged doses and stored inside two spectacle cases. In the apartment, approximately 2,000 euros in small-denomination notes were also found, along with several handwritten sheets with accounting notations traceable to the drug-dealing activity. The customer received an administrative fine and was reported to the Prefect's office.
Home deliveries by bicycle on via dell'Archeologia
A 25-year-old Roman instead operated in the open, managing sales from a bicycle along via dell'Archeologia. Caught in the act of an exchange, he attempted to flee on foot by abandoning his bicycle, but was apprehended after a few metres. Found in possession of doses of narcotics, he was arrested.
Lookout network at Ponte di Nona
At Ponte di Nona, the drug dealing was sustained by a more elaborate system, with lookouts and support operatives controlling the area. The two drug dealers neutralised operated individually, between via Capitini and via Luthuli, ready to disappear into the apartment blocks at the slightest signal.
The first, a 21-year-old Moroccan citizen, stationed himself near a bench in the gardens, where he had created a hiding place by burying the drugs. The second had concealed the substance inside a water metre, hidden in a cigarette packet: the Falchi seized 18 packets of cocaine ready for sale.
All four arrests were validated by the Judicial Authority.
It is specified that the evidence described pertains to the preliminary investigation phase. For the persons under investigation, the presumption of innocence applies until a final judgment of conviction is handed down.
