Four charred bodies in a minivan: investigation underway for multiple murder at Amendolara

Four charred bodies were discovered inside a vehicle parked at a petrol station along the SS106 state road at Amendolara, on the Ionian side of Cosenza province. According to tg24.sky.it, according to initial reconstructions by investigators, the victims were four agricultural labourers of Pakistani origin.

Firefighters had intervened at the scene following reports of a car on fire. During fire suppression operations, the firefighters discovered the bodies inside the vehicle. Investigators immediately advanced the hypothesis of multiple murder.

Two fellow nationals of the victims, also labourers, were taken to police headquarters in Cosenza and subjected to interrogation. Suspicions are focussed on these two individuals, identified during the initial phases of the investigation.

The investigation is being coordinated by the chief prosecutor of Castrovillari, Alessandro D'Alessio. Crucial assistance came from images from security cameras, both those installed in the service station area and those along the SS106 state road. From the footage acquired, several people could be seen moving away from the minivan before the fire broke out.

Among the leads being pursued by investigators is also that of a settling of scores.
