Minor in custody in Florence for contacts with Daesh

A fifteen-year-old of Tunisian origin is being held in custody at the juvenile detention facility in Florence, under investigation for recruitment with the aim of international terrorism. According to ANSA Cronaca, the juvenile judge ordered the measure after the boy, who had already been placed in a community facility in October 2025 for the same offence, resumed interacting with accounts linked to Daesh affiliates.

According to police, the profiles with which the young man was in contact are "linked to radical Islamic extremism". The 15-year-old reportedly declared himself ready to act, receiving instructions from his interlocutor on the location where to carry out the action and showing interest in acquiring weapons.

On the mobile telephone seized during a search, images were found depicting the faces of known Islamic terrorists. The boy immigrated to Italy from Tunisia three years ago.

The investigation resulted from an intelligence cooperation operation conducted at C.A.S.A. — Strategic Committee for Counter-Terrorism Analysis — with the Aise and Aisi agencies, which alerted the Florence Digos.

The juvenile judge described the 15-year-old as "a dangerous subject capable of committing serious acts", noting that he has not changed his ideological convictions and continued his proselytising work even during the probation period.
