Necklace robbery in Monza: three men arrested, one with 300g of hashish

Three arrests in Monza: robbery of elderly woman and hashish found in flat
According to questure.poliziadistato.it, on the morning of Friday 14 August 2026, Rapid Response Units from Monza and Brianza Police Headquarters arrested in flagrante delicto two men believed responsible for a robbery against an 84-year-old woman on Via Boezio, near the city's public gardens. The two arrested men are Italian citizens of Egyptian origin, aged 30 and 25.
Around 10.00 the victim, who was with a friend, reported to 112 that she had just been robbed of the small necklace she was wearing around her neck. According to investigators' reconstruction, one of the two men reached her from behind, violently grabbing her by the neck and snatching the jewel, then moving away together with his accomplice on an electric scooter.
Having obtained a description of the offenders, officers intercepted them a short distance away, still on the scooter. With the assistance of a second crew, both were stopped and subjected to a search. Shortly before being arrested, one of the two had dropped a knife with a blade lock into a bin, which was recovered and seized by officers. A personal search of the other subject made it possible to find the necklace hidden in his clothing. The victim then identified the two arrested men and the jewel was returned to her.
Search in Cinisello Balsamo: hashish, machetes and cash
During subsequent investigations, teams from the Mobile Squad and U.P.G.S.P. carried out a house search in Cinisello Balsamo, at the flat available to the two arrested for robbery. Inside the flat a third subject was identified, a Tunisian citizen aged 22.
In the wardrobe used by the young man, officers found approximately 300 grammes of hashish, partly divided into blocks, precision scales, packaging materials and 1,545 euros in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug dealing activity. Two machetes, a styletto and some tablets of opioid medication were also seized. Having consulted the duty prosecutor at Monza Public Prosecutor's Office, the 22-year-old was arrested in flagrante delicto for possession with intent to supply controlled substances.
In the flat's kitchen, two damaged gold necklaces were also found along with a car key, whose origin none of those present was able to explain. Officers proceeded to seize the items and referred all three subjects to the judicial authorities also for the crime of receiving stolen goods.
Separate precautionary measures for three suspects
At the conclusion of formal proceedings, the two men aged 30 and 25 arrested for robbery were transferred to Monza Prison, at the disposal of local judicial authorities. For the 22-year-old Tunisian, following the validation hearing, an order was instead issued imposing the measure of prohibition from residing in the Lombardy Region.
