American tourists robbed at Milan Duomo: 18-year-old arrested outside barracks
An 18-year-old born in Spain attacked a couple of American tourists in Milan on 4 July, snatching a 500-euro watch. The carabinieri intervened in seconds, blocking him on the spot.

An 18-year-old youth was arrested by carabinieri from Milan Duomo station in the afternoon of 4 July, after robbing a couple of American tourists just metres from an Arma barracks. Il Fatto Quotidiano – Cronaca reported this, also publishing images from surveillance cameras.
The youth, a Spanish-born citizen of North African origin, is believed to be responsible for the crime of robbery in concert. The images show the scene clearly: the two tourists, a husband and wife, were standing at the corner between via Fosse Ardeatine and via Zecca Vecchia, checking their phone in the shade. Two young men cross the street and launch themselves at the couple's backs. One of them grabs the man's wrist and tears the watch from him, throwing him to the ground. The wife attempts to intervene, and at that moment the second attacker also acts.
The carabinieri came onto the street in seconds, blocking the 18-year-old. His accomplice managed to escape with the stolen watch, worth approximately 500 euros.
The arrested youth fell to the ground during the arrest. Taken in green code (minor emergency) to Milan's Policlinico hospital for minor abrasions and a head trauma, he was subsequently transferred to San Vittore prison. The two victims, visibly shaken and with some injuries, refused medical treatment on site.
