This morning at dawn, law enforcement executed 79 restrictive measures in the Reggio area, on the orders of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate. The investigation targeted historic families of the Calabrese criminal organisation, including the De Stefano, Tegano and Condello families, along with other branches engaged in illegal drug trafficking.
73 individuals were taken into custody, while another 6 were placed under house arrest. The charges brought by prosecutors from the DDA, as reported by the Reggio Calabria Police Headquarters, include mafia-type association, drug trafficking, extortion, unlawful possession and carrying of weapons, robbery, as well as the offence of aiding and abetting 'ndrangheta activities.
The investigation, conducted jointly by the Carabinieri and State Police, has shed light on the unlawful activities of the criminal groups, ranging from drug dealing to extortion demands made against local shopkeepers and entrepreneurs.
