The intercommunal body of local police in Riccione concluded the weekend with a significant balance of violations detected. According to reports from comune.riccione.rn.it, systematic checks carried out during evening and night-time hours led to the detection of 5 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol, 8 reports for possession of narcotic substances and 9 road accidents across the municipal territory.

The Command's strategy focuses on the widespread and visible presence of uniformed officers, with the aim of discouraging unlawful conduct and reassuring citizens in the most frequented public areas, particularly around youth gathering places and major traffic routes.

Road safety: 9 accidents and licences withdrawn

The accident investigation section intervened in 9 road accidents overall: 2 without injuries and 7 with injuries. In one of the accidents without injuries, the person responsible attempted to flee but was quickly traced by officers. In one of the incidents with injuries, subsequent investigations revealed the driver was under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the immediate withdrawal of the driving licence.

Five violations for driving under the influence of alcohol

During services carried out in the night between Saturday and Sunday, in the nightlife areas and outside dance venues, officers recorded 5 violations of article 186 of the Road Code for driving under the influence of alcohol, with withdrawal of the respective driving licences. Among those stopped were 2 newly licensed drivers, subject to a zero alcohol limit, who were found to have levels well above 0.5 grammes per litre. A third driver, already sanctioned in 2024 for the same violation and therefore required to maintain zero alcohol consumption, was stopped with a level equally exceeding 0.5 grammes per litre.

Eight reports for narcotics: hashish, ecstasy and methamphetamine

In parallel, preventive action against the consumption of narcotic substances resulted in 8 reports issued under article 75 of Presidential Decree 309/1990 for possession for personal use. During the checks, hashish, ecstasy and methamphetamine were seized. Three of these sanctions involved young drivers, from whom the driving licence was withdrawn to protect public safety.

Man removed from Viale Berlinguer

On the matter of urban decorum, the rapid response section intervened in Viale Berlinguer due to the presence of a homeless man who was causing a disturbance. The man was sanctioned under the Urban Police Regulations and subsequently removed from the area.
