Search for Pamela's head gets underway with canine units
Vast area inspected, search expected to take several days
Specialised dogs and carabinieri search Bergamo countryside
According to ANSA Cronaca, Bergamo carabinieri launched a search this morning for the head of Pamela Genini, the young woman killed on 14 October last year by her ex-boyfriend Gianluca Soncin, whose body was desecrated in the grave at Strozza cemetery.
In connection with the desecration charge, Francesco Dolci, claiming to be a former boyfriend of the victim, is under investigation on free bail. He has denied any involvement in the theft of the head.
The operations, conducted on the basis of a search warrant issued by the Bergamo Public Prosecutor's Office, also involve canine units from Florence. The dogs Claus, a Belgian Malinois shepherd, and Hula, a German shepherd, are specialised in locating human remains and anatomical parts in difficult environmental contexts.
The search is focused on several rural areas in the province, selected based on carabinieri investigations. The military authorities stress that the extent of territory to be searched will require many days of work.
