At least five gunshots, presumably blanks, were fired yesterday evening in Torremaggiore, in the province of Foggia, at the end of a dispute that broke out on a private futsal pitch. ANSA Cronaca reports.
A group of young people, all adults, had been playing a match when a violent argument erupted, which then continued outside the home of one of the participants. Here the dispute degenerated into a scuffle and the pistol shots were fired.
The father of one of the young people also became involved in the fight, intervening in defence of his son. The man was struck with the butt of the pistol to the head and received treatment from 118 medical personnel, sustaining injuries requiring several days off work.
Carabinieri arrived at the scene, recovered the shell casings and opened an investigation to identify those responsible, who fled before their arrival. Surveillance cameras in the area are being reviewed by investigators.
