Sanremo, death of Milan woman Lorella Capano: 21-year-old son arrested on suspicion of murder

The 21-year-old son of Lorella Capano has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The decision was reached at the end of a lengthy interrogation.

The victim, 58 years old and resident in Milan, was found dead in an apartment in Sanremo. The young man had called the emergency services during the night, claiming he was unable to get his mother to enter after returning from dinner out.

The young man's account proved contradictory with what emerged from the investigation. Images from security cameras do not support his account. A witness reported hearing an argument between the two during the evening. Scratches and other marks consistent with a physical altercation were noted on the 21-year-old's body.

The woman's body bore injuries to the neck, face and arms, signs of violent physical struggle. The medical examiner suggested the hypothesis of strangulation, which will be verified by autopsy.

The carabinieri conducted a new search of the building, seizing two bags of refuse from the recycling bins.

A neighbour reported that the family was in the habit of spending summer holidays in the apartment. The husband was in Milan for work.
