On the evening of 7 July, police officers from Cosenza's Mobile Squad and Diamante Police Station arrested a Scalea resident for drug trafficking. The operation was part of a targeted service to combat drug trafficking along the Tyrrhenian coast of the Cosenza province, coordinated by Paola's Public Prosecutor's Office, headed by prosecutor Domenico Fiordalisi.
During the search, officers questioned the suspect and searched his home. In the course of the search, approximately half a kilogramme of marijuana, 25 grammes of hashish and a sum of 11,300 euros in banknotes were seized. Part of the substance was already divided into doses, ready for sale.
The man was transferred to Diamante Police Station offices and, after the necessary checks, was declared under arrest. On the order of the Public Prosecutor, the measure of house arrest was applied, which was subsequently validated at the direct trial hearing.
