A man living in Scalea was arrested in the afternoon of 7 July in an operation conducted by the Mobile Squad of Cosenza and the State Police Station of Diamante. The activity falls within drug trafficking suppression services in the upper Tyrrhenian territory of Cosenza, under the coordination of the Paola Public Prosecutor's Office.
During the inspection, officers carried out a personal and residential search. Approximately sixty-five grammes of hashish, three grammes of marijuana, one gramme of cocaine and five hundred and seventy euros in cash were found.
Taken to the offices of the Diamante Police Station, the detainee was placed under arrest for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing. The Paola Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the precautionary measure of house arrest. At the validation hearing, the magistrate subsequently ordered the release of the subject without applying further restrictive measures.
It is emphasised that, pending any final judgment, the presumption of innocence remains in force with respect to the person under investigation.
