She called 112, started filming with her mobile phone and, within minutes, carabinieri arrived at the scene and arrested a 21-year-old man for aggravated sexual violence. According to rainews.it.
The incident occurred in an area of the northern part of the city. The resident, observing from the window, noticed a girl in difficulty and a man holding her. She alerted the authorities and recorded images. Patrols from the Operational and Radio Mobile Unit of Avezzano and from the Trasacco station found the young man still at the scene when they arrived.
The arrested man is a 21-year-old Egyptian citizen, resident in Tagliacozzo and with no criminal record. According to the Avezzano Prosecutor's Office, the man allegedly took advantage of the victim's altered state, a circumstance that constitutes one of the aggravating factors of the charge along with the girl's minority.
The 16-year-old was assisted and taken to casualty for medical examinations. Medics found injuries considered compatible with the investigative hypothesis. The clothing of both individuals was seized for examinations ordered by public prosecutor Luigi Sgambati, who is coordinating the investigation.
The video recorded by the witness could prove decisive in reconstructing the facts. The images were acquired by investigators and will be examined together with other evidence gathered in the early stages of the investigation. The 21-year-old is currently being held in Avezzano prison, pending the arrest validation hearing scheduled for the coming days.
