Italian law enforcement has arrested six young people affiliated with the "Latin Kings" criminal gang, including a Dominican citizen, in connection with a stabbing death that occurred on 26 May at Milan Certosa railway station. The victim, Gianluca Ibarra Silvera, was an Italian boy of Ecuadorian origin.
The operation, coordinated by the Milan Prosecutor's Office, resulted in the execution of a custody order in the northern provinces of Milan and Monza. Among those detained are a nineteen-year-old from the Dominican Republic and five Peruvian citizens aged between 18 and 22. The authorities believe that all participated, to varying degrees of responsibility, in the murder.
This latest development represents a step forward in the investigation conducted by the Mobile Squad of the Milan Police Headquarters. Previously, on 5 and 9 June, two suspects identified as the actual perpetrators of the fatal assault had already been arrested.
According to the investigators' reconstruction, based on analysis of CCTV footage and witness statements collected, the group first surrounded the victim, his brother and a friend of theirs. Subsequently, the assailants attacked them using stones, bottles and bladed weapons, triggering a chase along the railway tracks. During the escape, Ibarra Silvera fell to the ground and was reached by the attackers, who struck him repeatedly with knives until they killed him.
