Major drug seizure in Cesate: hashish found in garage refrigerators

One hundred and ninety kilograms of hashish and nearly one kilogram of cocaine hidden amongst cars and refrigerators in a garage: this was the result of an anti-drugs operation conducted by state police in Cesate, in the Milan area, on 29 May. According to milanotoday.it, the raid led to the arrest of an Italian man aged 24 and a man of Romanian origin aged 38, both with criminal records. The two are now accused of possession with intent to supply controlled substances.

The operation by officers from the anti-drugs section of the Milan Mobile Squad was launched at around 11 a.m. on Via Manzoni, during a service targeting drug dealing in towns neighbouring the Groane park. Police officers observed the 38-year-old man who, acting suspiciously with his boot open, was taking two canvas bags from his own car to transfer them to a second vehicle that had just arrived and was being driven by the 24-year-old.

The two were stopped immediately. The bags contained 50 blocks of hashish, with a combined weight of 30 kilograms. The subsequent search of the 38-year-old's garage unit, also in Cesate, made it possible to find another 160 kilograms of hashish and 870 grammes of cocaine, kept inside two refrigerators that were being used as hiding places. Both of those arrested are currently in San Vittore prison, awaiting validation of their detention.
